This one was a lot of fun to build. The homeowner out in McLeansville had a decent-sized backyard with mature trees and wanted to put the space to real use. Not a garden. Not a patio. A full multi-hole putting green with artificial turf - the kind you can actually practice on every single day without leaving home.
Here's what makes a project like this work well. The layout has to follow the natural contour of the yard. We worked around the existing trees rather than fighting them, which gave the green a more natural, organic shape. The result is a surface that flows with the property instead of looking like something just dropped in the middle of the yard.
The turf itself is the right call for a putting surface. It holds a consistent roll, it doesn't require mowing or watering, and it handles foot traffic without breaking down. No muddy patches after rain. No dead spots in summer. You can go out and putt in the morning before work and the surface plays the same every single time.
Multiple holes, multiple flag positions - that's what takes this from a simple mat to an actual practice setup. You can work on distance control, break reading, and different approach angles all without leaving your property. For anyone who plays golf regularly out here in the Guilford County area, that kind of daily repetition adds up fast.
